Journeys and appointment bundling

We bundle appointments in the same city or region where possible. Instead of three individual Heidelberg days spread over a month - one day shoot for several customers at the same time. This saves kilometers and time.

Power and studio operation

Our studio in Römerberg runs on Green electricity tariff and it's even cheaper.

We use LED continuous light where possible. (More energy-saving than studio flashes). Computers and monitors are the latest models with low consumption and are even easy on the eyes!

Data and memory

Image data is stored on our own server in Römerberg stored - not in US clouds, not in foreign data centers. We only use cloud storage for website content, never for customer data. Once the agreed retention period has expired, image data is securely deleted - saving storage space and energy in the long term.

Print and print

For print jobs, we recommend partners with FSC certification, eco-colors and short delivery routes. We deliver data digitally and optimized so that reprints and corrections are avoided - we do not send data carriers, everything is done directly online.

Image longevity as sustainability

The most important contribution: Pictures that last. If you need a new employee photo shoot every 6 months because the old ones no longer fit, you are using up more resources. We deliver images that you can work with for 3-5 years.

CO2 awareness in photo projects

My biggest levers are Approaches. A one-day shoot in Heidelberg produces less CO2 than three half-day sessions spread over three months. We bundle dates, where possible - both in terms of space (several customers in the same city on the same day) and time (several tasks in one appointment instead of spread over months). This saves kilometers, time and CO2.

I do the journeys by car - not out of convenience, but out of reliability. Appointments have to fit, my equipment has to be complete, and I can't expect customers to put up with delays or strikes. That's why we plan routes so that several customers are served on one tour - it's more effective for climate protection than hectic individual trips across the country.

Sustainability in the studio

My studio in Römerberg runs on Green electricity tariff from a local supplier. Heating via heat pump and energy-efficient appliances. Lighting largely LED.

With the Equipment selection I look for longevity instead of disposability. A Hensel lamp lasts 10+ years, a mid-range lamp maybe 3 years. Over time, the more expensive lamp is more sustainable.

Our own server is located in Römerberg, runs on green electricity and is used exclusively for image data. We only use cloud services (with a German location and green electricity) for website delivery - never for customer images.

Printing and distribution

For print jobs, I recommend partners with FSC certification, eco-colors and short delivery routes. Local print shops often beat global online printing services in the CO2 comparison.

I optimize print data in advance so that no correction prints are necessary. A wasted test print is a waste of paper, ink and energy. Data transfer to the print shop is purely digital - via server link or direct upload, not via USB stick or DVD.

What visual material has to do with sustainability

Photography's greatest contribution to sustainability lies in the Lifetime of the images. If you need a new employee photo shoot every 6 months because the old ones no longer fit, you are constantly using up new resources.

My pictures are designed in such a way that they Wear for 3-5 years. Classic imagery instead of trendy looks. Timeless outfits instead of fashion statements. Stable image selection instead of interchangeable stock optics.

This is good for your brand and good for the environment - both at the same time.
