What we offer
We offer Internships, assistantships and jobs in different constellations - depending on current needs. Internships usually last 4-12 weeks, assistantships are often longer-term (3-12 months).
With us, you will learn how photo projects actually work, from the initial inquiry to image delivery - including equipment setup, lighting set-up, image selection and customer communication.
What we expect
Important are: technical understanding, punctuality, discretion and a desire for real work. Previous experience with a camera or light is helpful, but not a must. Anyone interested in image editing (Capture One, Photoshop) has an advantage.
You should work independently but also work as part of a team. Discretion is a must - we work in many industry and boardroom contexts.
Application procedure
Send us your application with a short Cover letter, CV and 5-10 pictures of your previous work - even if they are not yet professional, we want to see how you look.
We will reply within a week. If suitable, there will be a preliminary interview (studio in Römerberg or online), followed by a trial day if necessary.
Who has worked for us
Over the years, several former interns have made the leap to their own studios or permanent positions in advertising agencies. We are happy about every connection - even long after the internship has ended.
What you will learn
Technical: Lighting setup from simple (1 lamp) to complex (4 lamps, reflector, strip), camera handling in the studio and mobile, tethered workflow with Capture One, image editing in Photoshop.
Organizational: How a client meeting works, how a briefing is created, what a shot list looks like, how an image selection is structured. How to plan appointments and accompany clients professionally.
Mental: How to stay calm even in stressful moments, how to manage a team of 20 employees, how to deal with unexpected situations (someone drops out, light doesn't cooperate, appointment has to be postponed).
Remuneration
Internships are remunerated according to the statutory minimum wage (compulsory internships according to study regulations are excluded). For assistantships (several months) we negotiate individually - depending on experience, tasks and responsibility.
I will cover travel costs to external shootings. Catering is provided for day shoots outside Römerberg.
What comes out in the end
Former interns and assistants are now independent photographers, work at Advertising agencies, trade magazines or corporate marketing departments. A letter of recommendation is of course given for good performance.
Anyone who has been with me for longer than 6 months will then have a realistic picture of the industry and can make an informed decision as to whether self-employment or permanent employment makes more sense. Both ways are possible, both ways have pros and cons. I am happy to advise you in your decision.
