Cameras: Full format and medium format

We work with modern Full-frame cameras (Nikon Z series) for reportages, portraits and fast sequences. For studio, product and high-end assignments, we use Medium format systems from PhaseOne with significantly higher resolution and depth of detail.

Lenses: from wide-angle to telephoto

Our lens setup covers 14mm to 400mm - fixed focal lengths for portraits and reportage, fast zooms for industry and events. Tilt-shift lenses for architecture and products. Macro for detail shots.

Light: Studio and mobile

In the studio we work with Hensel lightning systems - inclusive Hensel parabolic screens and Shades from broncolor for soft, three-dimensional light. Plus octa-boxes, striplights, beauty dishes and reflectors for targeted light shaping. Mobile: Hensel Porty and Godox AD series battery-powered - can be used in any workshop and on location, ideal for industrial and on-location photography without a power connection.

Monitors: color fidelity as standard

Image processing runs on EIZO ColorEdge CG Series - calibrated, color-accurate. This is mandatory for print motifs: what we accept looks the same in print and on the web.

Software & Workflow

Image selection in Capture One Pro, retouching in Photoshop, retouching plugins for skin tones and detail. Backups are running twice on our own server in Römerberg. Images are supplied in all relevant formats: JPG, TIFF, PSD, PDF, RAW on request.

More about optimization in the article Image optimization for the web.

Backup and data security

Data is precious. I take pictures during the shoot Two SD cards or XQR cards in parallel If one card fails, the second is intact. After the shoot, the images are immediately backed up to an external SSD (studio SSD and mobile backup SSD) and uploaded in parallel to my own cloud (Römerberg location).

This means that even if the studio burns down or a laptop is stolen, your images are backed up. The data remains available for at least 6 months - much longer if desired. For regular customers, I archive all images permanently.

Software workflow

Capture One Pro for image selection and RAW development. In my opinion, Capture One is more precise than Lightroom in skin tones and tethered workflow.

Adobe Photoshop for detail retouching, composings and background replacement if necessary.

Retoucher plugins (Frequency Separation, Skin-Smoothing) for efficient skin tone processing.

Color managementAll monitors are calibrated monthly. Print images receive a soft proof in CMYK before they go to print.

Equipment promotion instead of brand fetish

I don't care what brand name is on the camera. The important thing is that the equipment fits the order and works reliably. I own both Canon and Nikon bodies because certain lenses are better on certain systems.

I use PhaseOne medium format for studio shots that require the highest level of detail. For fast reportage and industrial photography, full format is faster and more flexible. I would decide differently for sports or animal photography - but that's not my main focus.

📌 My standard for image rights

At Schepers Photography you get the following as standard full rights of use to all images supplied - unlimited in time, unlimited geographically, for all your own media (website, social media, print, press relations, career, annual report). No extra charge, no small print. An exception only applies if, before the shoot otherwise agreed in writing This happens very rarely.

Also a Copyright attribution is not mandatory. So you don't have to name me as the photographer if it doesn't fit the layout. My experience: If a picture is good, people will ask who took it. You can find more details about my license philosophy at Image rights & rights of use.
