What are the benefits of a studio shoot?

In the studio you have Full control over light and background. This is ideal for classic application or headshot shots, uniform employee galleries or product photography with high demands on repeatability.

Disadvantage: The atmosphere is neutral and „closed“. Employees often seem more rigid because they are taken out of their usual environment.

What are the benefits of on-location photography?

On-location means: We come to your office, workshop, production facility or customer site. The pictures show real work, real spaces, real people - This looks authentic and sells much better on the careers page, in the press kit and in the annual report.

Practical advantage: employees don't have to come to a studio. This saves travel time and makes the day of the shoot more relaxed.

When is which variant worthwhile?

Studio recommended: You need uniform headshots for an application database, photograph products without surroundings, or want an extremely clean look.

On-location recommended: You want to make your brand, values or working methods visible. Suitable for Business photography, Business portraits, Team photos, Industrial photography, Advertising photography or Photo reports.

Hybrid approach: the best of both worlds

We bring a mobile studio set-up with us - and can also take classic headshots on location against a neutral background. So in one appointment you get both the uniform portraits as well as the authentic reportage pictures.

Preparation for studio appointments

If you decide on a studio shoot, please plan the journey for your employees. My studio is located in Römerberg, a 5-10 minute drive from Speyer and Schifferstadt and a 25-30 minute drive from Mannheim and Heidelberg. I recommend scheduling appointments in 15-minute blocks so that no one is waiting and nothing runs into each other.

In the studio we have Air-conditioned rooms, A waiting area with coffee/water and a small mirror for freshening up. Outfit ironing is also possible if someone comes out of the car with a shirt on.

Tip: Bring a second outfit with. If the first one in the pictures doesn't look as planned, we have a plan B - without a new date.

Preparation for on-location shootings

On-location shoots require more preparation within the company. Especially in industry: Safety shoes, helmet, goggles, hearing protection should be available, also in my size. I bring my own PPE, but an additional set for helmet and goggles with your company's logo makes a good impression in the picture.

Tidy up roomsAt least the area shown in the picture. Tools tidy, cables tucked away, personal items (lunch box, coffee cup, ashtray) removed. That's 5 minutes work per area, but it makes the difference between „messy“ and „professional“.

Check lightingFactory halls often have difficult mixed light. I bring mobile LED setups, but if you know it's going to be darker (winter month, north side of the building), mention that beforehand. This way I plan more equipment.

Hybrid setup: Studio comes to you

If you want uniform headshots but want to save the effort of traveling to the studio, you can use a mobile studio setup order. I'll bring the background system, lighting setup and everything else that's in the studio to your location. We'll set it up in a meeting room or a quiet corner of the hall - and you'll have a complete headshot set for your team within 2-3 hours.

Advantage: Employees do not have to travel. Disadvantage: Set-up and dismantling take an extra 30-45 minutes. This is almost always worthwhile for teams of 8 people or more.
