Natural tones such as navy, gray, anthracite, beige or muted green look professional on almost any background.

Make sure it fits neatly: no labels sticking out, no creases, no stains. The outfit should match the brand - an IT consultant looks different from a craftsman's business.

What you should avoid in photos

Avoid Small-scale patterns, bright colors and eye-catching logos. Fine stripes or checks can „flicker“ in photos (moiré effect). White tones that are too bright quickly outshine the face.

Also consciously dose jewelry and accessories: A discreet pin or an elegant watch is more powerful than five rings and three necklaces. A fresh hairstyle and subtle make-up - you rarely need more.

Team shoots: style instead of uniform

For team shots, you should not specify a uniform, but a Communicate styleFor example, „smart casual, natural tones“. This will give you a uniform look without making it look contrived.

We recommend sharing a short mood overview before the shoot - this helps everyone in the team to decide what suits them.

Industry-specific tips

Industry & trade: Workwear is authentic and makes a strong impression. Look for clean, intact items. Safety PPE belongs with it, not away from it.

IT & Consulting: Shirt without tie or polo look modern. Sneakers with chinos are perfectly acceptable today.

Hotel & Service: Original uniforms are usually the best choice - they convey brand and trust.

Outfit tips for women

For women, a classic blouse, a simple knitted top or a blazer in muted colors almost always. If you are unsure: a monochrome top in navy, anthracite, burgundy, camel or sage looks stylish on any background.

📌 My standard for image rights

At Schepers Photography you get the following as standard full rights of use to all images supplied - unlimited in time, unlimited geographically, for all your own media (website, social media, print, press relations, career, annual report). No extra charge, no small print. An exception only applies if, before the shoot otherwise agreed in writing This happens very rarely.

Also a Copyright attribution is not mandatory. So you don't have to name me as the photographer if it doesn't fit the layout. My experience: If a picture is good, people will ask who took it. You can find more details about my license philosophy at Image rights & rights of use.

Avoid low-cut tops (with breast portraits, you can suddenly see more skin than intended) and very tight-fitting fabrics (highlight folds and creases). Very shiny materials (satin, lacquer) also reflect studio light unfavorably.

Keep jewelry discreet: A beautiful necklace or discreet earrings are enough. Several large rings, bracelets and statement necklaces distract from the face.

Make-up: Day-appropriate, a little more definition than usual (eyebrows, a light eye shadow, matt concealer). Glossy lipstick often looks too strong in photos.

Outfit tips for men

For men Shirt without tie is the right choice in most industries. Polo shirts work in tech and consulting, shirts with jackets in classic B2B sectors, shirts with knitted sweaters for a cooler look.

Classic colors: White (be careful - can outshine), light blue, light gray, navy blue. Check shirts work, but should not be too small - otherwise the pattern will flicker in photos.

Grooming your beard: Freshly cut or shaved. Stubble between 2 and 5 days old usually looks messy in photos.

Accessories: A simple watch is classic, a very flashy sporty or smart watch looks out of place. Badges or brand pins are okay if they match the brand.

Outfit recommendation for team shots

For team recordings I recommend a common style instead of a uniform. „Smart casual in natural colors“ or „classic business with light shirts/blouses“ is a specification that gives everyone leeway and still results in a uniform image.

What you should avoid: everyone in the same color (looks like a school uniform), wildly mixed colors (looks jarring) or visible logos of different brands (looks unprofessional). A simple, common code - and everyone brings their own personal style to the table.

With Family business it can be nice if the management wears a slightly more formal outfit than the rest of the team. This creates hierarchy without posing.

Inquire now - Schepers Photography

Are you planning business portraits or team photos and need advice on outfits?
